Digitalization is entering the classroom. Choosing suitable learning apps can often be a challenge for teachers. This is exactly where the new education initiative “Learning Apps Marketplace” of the Federal Ministry of Education comes in: it offers schools a central place where vetted digital learning offerings can be easily found, evaluated and used in the classroom.

The marketplace is supported by education ministries and education experts and is part of the larger digitalization strategy for schools. Through collaboration with software providers and educators, a reliable, practical offering emerges that actively supports schools in their digitalization.
What does this mean concretely for teachers?
- Time savings: Teachers do not have to test every app themselves but can rely on vetted offerings.
- Quality assurance: Apps are selected according to pedagogical criteria and checked for their suitability.
- Data protection and security: Schools receive clear guidance on complying with legal requirements.
- Enrichment of teaching: Teachers can integrate the apps specifically into teaching units to promote individual learning and student motivation.
In the current pilot and testing phase in the summer semester of 2026, schools can already take part as early adopters, gather experience and try out digital learning offerings directly in the classroom. We recommend seizing this opportunity right now and consciously integrating digital learning apps into the classroom.
The most important information about the process in brief:
Registration is carried out by the school management between January 26 and March 27, 2026, directly via the Learning Apps Marketplace. Teachers can subsequently be authorized to place orders in the education portal. A funding amount of 13 euros per student is available to the school. From February 23, the catalog will be publicly viewable, and orders will be possible in the period from February 23 to March 27. The selection of the learning apps is made autonomously by the school for individual classes, year groups or the entire school.
MatheArena Junior and MatheArena Classic are already quality-tested and can therefore be used easily via the marketplace.
